About The Statesman

We fight the good fight.

The Statesman is the University of Pennsylvania’s alternative media publication. Founded in 2013 by a group of Penn freshmen, we take pride in our status as a bulwark for balanced political and social discourse on campus.

We believe in freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and, most importantly, valuing thoughts and ideas for their substantive merits rather than what is socially popular. In other words, we do not apologize for strongly held, well-argued opinions.

In today’s world, we find it increasingly important to apply journalistic and rhetorical rigor to the greatest issues of our day. This is especially true for our mission to restore critical, thought-provoking commentary to Penn’s public conscience. If you’re interested in helping us throughout our journey, or if you just want to say hello, please email us at statesmanofpenn@gmail.com.

Thank you for your interest, support, and friendship.
